The United States is the only industrialized country without national health insurance coverage. In other countries, affordable health insurance is considered a right of citizenship. In America, it is a commodity. We are all fallible human beings. Like people of other nationalities, we get physical ailments that must be treated. Yet, in this country only the economically strong survive in the struggle to obtain health insurance. Unless someone is financially frail, the government does not offer its assistance. The level of monetary fragility is determined by an established federal poverty line. What about those who are not wealthy enough to purchase health insurance yet, not poor enough according to governmental standards? How do they obtain affordable health insurance? And for those who do have the funds for health insurance policies, how can find insurance companies that reduce costs to a reasonable rate?
